A VLOG FOR THE BLOG

This week I decided to do a week in my life! However, as I was doing this project, I quickly realized I only go to school, work and study at home. That said, I wanted to try this out as I really enjoy video editing. I use this awesome app called CapCut and I find it much more user friendly than iMovie. I found this app this summer as I worked for a summer camp and every Wednesday we would do a challenge. Most of the time, we had to create videos or movies of us doing the Wednesday challenge. After using this app a couple times, I am now used to the format. Overall, I had a lot of fun taking these photos and putting together this video! All of the people who are in the video or photos have given consent to be on my blog.

This could be a great example of how you could use photography in your classroom. The only thing you really need is a camera, which could be your phone or iPad etc. Capturing one picture each day of the week could be a fun memory that you and the students could look back on for the end of the year!

A few things I struggled with for this project was

  1. I forgot my camera so I couldn’t take the pictures.
  2. I forget to film what I was doing.
  3. I felt a bit awkward bringing out my camera as I couldn’t seem to find the right time to do it.
  4. I didn’t know what to film as I felt I was basically filming the same thing every time.

Below is the video I made for the blog!

MONDAY

Hand Tattoos!
Happy Halloween – From the Minions
The Best Dressed Minion
Sofie the prettiest fairy ever!
Working at the Teen Centre with Saryn
Pokemon GO!
The Cool Kids in Tech
Crazy Old Cat Lady

Happy Halloween Everyone! Monday was so much fun as a group of us all dressed up as Minions. Including, we got to see the other cohort and wow did they have some awesome costumes. Also, that night I had work for the teen centre where my co worker and one other teen ended up eating A LOT of chocolate chip pancakes. Let’s just say I don’t think I want to see any pancakes for a while.

TUESDAY

Our Math Teachers
Jayda 🙂
Jo with the snacks
Natasha, Paige, and Cara
Mel is readying for the midterm!
Kari giving a BIG thumbs up

Tuesday was super stressful. We had a music theory midterm and as this year is the first time I have been taught music in general. Understanding everything and trying to grasp the new material was a bit hard. That said, I know I am not the only one feeling this way and I am glad that I have my peers to lean on.

WEDNESDAY

Miss. Allie – my teaching partner 🙂
Amy, one of our awesome profs!
Wednesday Seminar

I absolutely love Wednesdays as we get to go to our link2practice and have hands on experiences. These days are always so busy and I’m surprised that I got pictures. Miss. Allie and I are in a grade one class and absolutely love it!

THURSDAY

Mel and Natasha

I have a love hate relationship with Thursdays. I love them as we only have one class but I also hate them as the class is at 8:30 am. Anyways, Mel, Natasha and I just finished up one of our big projects for math (which felt amazing)! We pushed through and now don’t have to worry about this lesson plan over reading break. Way to go Girls!

FRIDAY

Meaghan, Yireh, and Natasha
Anju & Nova

Last day of school for the week! I don’t know how I got photos but not a video for the vlog but let’s just say I didn’t do much. School, study, and work aka my routine for every Friday. These photos were taken in the Commons in the MacLaurin Building, where I post most of my time.

SATURDAY

View from Walmart in Duncan
View on the way back from Duncan

I planned on spending most of my day doing homework on Saturday. However, I ended up joining my parents for their day trip to Duncan. My mom was going to visit one of her friends and my dad was going along for the ride (aka my dad would be doing all the driving). So as my Mom was visiting her friend, my dad and I hung around in Duncan and did some errands.

  1. Hi Jessica!
This is such a beautiful wholesome post. This put such a smile on my face looking back at the week. I know I don’t really do much other than school either. It is so nice to see the photos and look back the mundane of our day-to-day but also the spontaneous fun and closeness we all have.

    Hi Jessica,

I love this! Being able to document and reflect on your week is such a neat idea. It was also fun to see little glimpses of our cohort throughout the week and see you and the groups your in, work on projects that we are all working through right now.

Hope you are able to have a little break from work and school during reading break!

    Hi Jess,

I love this idea of doing “a week in the life.” Right now, I am doing a similar style thing with writing. At the end of each week of the year I write down some of my favourite memories from the week. I put this in a jar. At the end of the year I will have 52 weeks of memories to look back and reflect on! I encourage everyone to try it out in the new year!!!!

I think this “vlog for a blog” is an awesome idea, and super cool for you to look back on and reflect in the future!

  4. The Vlog is amazing. I am honoured to be featured in it. 🙂 This would be such a fun thing to show at the end of the school year, it’s like a university yearbook!
